Probate is the legal process of administering a deceased person's estate.

It involves proving in court that the deceased's will is valid, identifying and gathering the deceased's assets, paying any debts or taxes owed, and distributing the remaining assets to the beneficiaries named in the will.

Probate is typically required when the deceased had assets in their name alone worth over $50,000, or when there is real estate involved.

The process required in this scenario is similar to the probate process, but it is called applying for “Letters of Administration” instead of “Probate”.

Once you have completed our questionnaire, we will provide you with our quote. Generally it can be between $1,500 - $4,000 but could cost more or less. The costs are based on the size of the estate and how much work is required to be carried out by us.

Generally, however you are entitled to get a refund of these costs from the estate as they are considered a debt of the estate that needs to be paid. Once probate has been granted, you can get those fees refunded to you.
